Two years ago, I voiced an idea. A wish. To have a gathering of the friends and food allergy people I knew online, to get to meet them in person. I have been so blessed and fortunate to have shared this idea with a girl I knew through Twitter, and few emails. Homa Woodrum believed in my idea, and with her keen attention to detail, tireless work, and perfectionism, the Food Allergy Bloggers Conference has celebrated two wonderful events bringing together our Food Allergy Community and forming lasting relationships among the advocates, authors, and companies who support our disease management!
Homa has been my best friend for these past two years, helping to create the conference, and helping me deal with life’s many challenges, as I went through my divorce, she was always there for me. She has been kind, supportive, and humorous. She is an incredibly thoughtful and generous person. In addition to her work on the conference, Homa has been involved with her children’s school board, She has brought important Food Allergy issues to light on her blog, OhMahDeehness. Including issues with short expiration dates on epinephrine, and Amtrak’s refusal to allow a food allergic teen to buy a ticket! Homa Woodrum opened her own law practice early in 2014, and was just recently listed as one of two “top” Southern Nevada Guardianship attorneys in the latest issue of Desert Companion Magazine!
It was decided that after this year’s Food Allergy Bloggers Conference, that Homa would be stepping down from her role as co-manager. I would be lying if I did not say that I was sad about this. I have LOVED getting to work with Homa, and could not have imagined a better friend or partner. I just want to publicly state how grateful I am to her, for her help, and most importantly for her friendship. So Thank you Homa, for all you do, and all you will go on to accomplish!
After working all year together-, we finally met in REAL life!~at the First annual Food Allergy Bloggers Conference!
Homa and I at the Mylan Summit 2014.
Huge “Thank You”s to Homa Woodrum & Selena Bluntzer for all their time and hard work making the 2nd annual Food Allergy Bloggers Conference a success!
A side note: The Food Allergy Bloggers Conference is still a reality- details regarding 2015 coming soon!
